Lorna Shore came to the Hollywood Palladium on October 14th with support from The Black Dahlia Murder, Shadow of Intent, and Peeling Flesh. This tour is in support of Lorna Shores recently released LP, I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me released in September. This was an absolutely stacked night.
Oklahoma boys, Peeling Flesh were up first and knew exactly how to get the crowd pumped up and moving. Bringing their signature blend of slam, hardcore, and a little bit of hip-hop flair, it’s almost impossible not to have a good time watching these guys. They were so much fun, especially with throwing memes into the middle of their songs like, “nothing beats a jet 2 holiday”. They only have one studio album out, The G Code, released last year, but have a few EPs out.
Up next was Shadow of Intent starting off their set with “Prepare to Die”. Frontman Ben Duerr is taking a leave at the moment to welcome his newborn into the world, but Adam Mercer of Deathstroke stepped in to cover! They just released their latest album, Imperium Delirium, this summer in June and nearly the entire setlist drew from it except for their closer, “The Heretic Prevails”.
The Black Dahlia Murder was up next and they came out swinging with “What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse”. In May 2022, the metal world was gutted by the loss of Trevor Strnad. Guitarist Brian Eschbach switched to vocalist, ensuring that the band continued on in Trevor’s memory.
Now it was time for Lorna Shore. Front man Will Ramos explained that this is the most production that Lorna Shore has ever had. Which I find crazy because I saw them at Aftershock last year and they had Pyro and Fireworks and everything, still one of the best sets I’ve seen to this day. This new setup was really cool though! They had screens all around that played landscape scenes that were specific to every song. Lorna Shore is one of those bands that I may not know every word to every song but I know exactly what they are saying because their energy is so powerful.
They just released their latest album, I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me, in September of this year and most of the setlist consisted of songs off of it. Most encore consist of maybe 1-3 songs and you get an extra 5-10 mins of a band's set. When Lorna Shore closes with the pain remains trilogy though, you get an extra 21 minutes of Lorna Shore.
