Nonpoint brought their “Even More Outta Control” tour to The Glass House in Pomona with support from Spine Shank and (Hed) P.E.. With this amazing line up I was willing to give The Glass House another try for a night. We always try to focus on the positives of every show and venue, so I’ll start with that. There is free or very low fee parking within a few minutes walk away. Be careful of the lot right next to the venue that is the pricey one and you don’t know the fee until after you park. The Glass House is 800 person capacity, all ages, all GA, plenty of room for a mosh pit and you have a great view of the stage from anywhere. There seems to be some upgrades to the stage with better lights and a screen. The downside is that the staff is not friendly at all, none of them and to add to that, it’s hot AF inside. Overhearing conversations and also chatting with fans, they said the same, they avoid this venue, but the lineup was amazing so they endured for the bands. Those couple of things can be improved and it would be a great spot!

Southern California boys (Hed) P.E. kicked off the night with a six song setlist all from their album Broke, which celebrated its 26th anniversary on August 22nd. Fun Fact - if you’re curious like me, and wondered what the PE means, it’s Planetary Evolution. Lead vocalist James Gomes thanked everyone, said he's a first generation American, his parents are from Brazil. They went from dirt poor to living the American Dream here. I love story time between songs to better understand the backstory of the band and how they came to be. Closed out their set with the fans singing the last line, which was awesome!

Next up was Los Angeles based Spine Shank. Spineshank was on a long hiatus until 2025 coming back together to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Height of Callousness. New to the line up on guitar is Tommy Decker Jr (original member Tommy Decker’s son) and Jason Hagar (formerly Chimaira) joining original members Jonny Santos (vocals) and Robert Garcia (bass). The energy of the room was like seeing a long lost friend for the first time when they took the stage. The circle pit was going strong with a wall of death halfway through. They will be at Aftershock Festival (we’ll see you there!) and after that heading to Europe with (Hed) PE.

One of my favorite things about Nonpoint is they are cohesive in many ways. Their moves are all different from each other but at the same time Jaysin Zeilstra, Rasheed Thomas, and Adam Woloszyn are synchronized, you have to see it live to see what I mean. The other thing is a lot of the time they have a coordinated look. Might be all red, or all black, but they always look sharp. Tonight they threw me off for a bit not wearing coordinated outfits, but there was still a slight theme of orange/yellow tying them together. Nonpoint is one of my favorite bands to see live. They connect with the fans, they give 110% every time even when it’s 110 degrees. I learned something new from a fan after the show (They are featured on the rail with the Puerto Rico flag.) Cofounders Elias Soriano (lead vocalist) and Rob Rivera (drummer) have Puerto Rico ties, so their logo is the Coqui, a tiny frog that is native to Puerto Rico. I thought it was just a cool design. I love culture and learning fun facts about bands I’ve been following for years.
