Electric Callboy Brings The Party to Los Angeles

Electric Callboy played the Kia Forum in Los Angeles with support from Scene Queen and Polaris! I’ve only seen Electric Callboy once before in a festival setting at Welcome to Rockville in 2024 so it was cool to finally catch one of their headlining shows and to see them play an arena!

Scene Queen kicked off the night and got the party started! She’s a gorgeous bad ass that has fun talking shit about the scene. The part of the scene that we all don’t like, you know what we're talking about, but she has the balls to write songs about it. She embraces a new genre she dubs “bimbocore” which mixes metal core and feminist. She's a lot of fun and brings a new element to shows including her iconic “Twerkle Pit” during “Pink G-String”.

Next up was Aussie metalcore band Polaris! They released their third, and latest, studio album, Fatalism, on September 1, 2023. The chart-topping album features tracks such as "Nightmare," "Overflow," and "Inhumane," and was the final album to feature lead guitarist Ryan Siew before his passing. They had everyone pull out their flashlights during “Masochist” to light up the whole stadium. They also called for a wall of death during “All of This Is Fleeting” before closing out with “Nightmare”.

It was now time for Electric Callboy! The stage was covered by a huge banner that read Tanzeid on it. They played the opening part of “Tanzeid” from behind the curtain and once that dropped the band burst onto the stage. Electric Callboy had not one but three confetti pops throughout their show. The first one was right off the bat during their second song which was a cover of Sum41’s “Still Waiting”. Better yet, Deryck Whibley of Sum41 came out and performed the song with them! Drummer Frank Zummo also used to be the drummer in Sum41 so it was a really special moment to see those two share a stage again. There was confetti all over the stage so one of the guys from the crew came out and was leaf blowing it all off the stage. The band was thanking their crew and everything they did and said, “They even blow us!”

They played the first half of “Hurrikan” and then where that breakdown normally is, they did a DJ set featuring “All the Small Things” by Blink 182 and “Bodies” by Drowning Pool which was a lot of fun! True, original fans of Electric Callboy got a special treat when they played a medley of older songs which included “Monsieur Moustache vs. Clitcat”, “Muffin Purper-Gurk”, “We Are the Mess”, and “Crystals”.

Zummo had a drum solo and while he was doing that, the rest of the band went down into the crowd with a piano and played an acoustic version of “Fuckboi”. They had everyone in the crowd sit down, or at least tried to, and told the crowd to put their phones down and just be in the moment. They continued their acoustic set by playing their cover of “Every Time We Touch” that was half performed acoustically. During the second half the band jumped back on stage and performed it as normal full force! They had a guy come out from the crew with a confetti gun during “MC Thunder II (Dancing Like a Ninja)”. More confetti!

There were many costume changes throughout the night including space like puffers, some 80’s workout attire, and then their iconic black bob wigs for “We Got The Moves”. This band is just so much fun and so entertaining from start to finish, carrying the same energy throughout the entire night. The crowd, and myself included, definitely got our Cardio in for the week. This world tour is just getting started so be sure not to miss it!
